JETS Owner, Burns lukewarm about 1st Round selection

JETS Owner, Burns lukewarm about 1st Round selection, Ryan GRANT

After spending most of his pre-draft time worried about the availability of “hot spots” at Danny O’s, Ed Burns (not the esteemed actor but respectfully distinguished nonetheless) was burnt by his inability to read the various league posts and messages sent regarding the change in the leagues structure.

When JT O’Callaghan, night manager at Danny O’s, was reached for comment he told me “to go screw myself and hot spots are for yuppies". He then concluded by demanding that I "tell Ed he still owes $1350 for the jukebox he destroyed" after what we can conclude was a fit of rage after learning of the Grant selection.

The JETS ownership, never informed the league that he was using a lower level minion to draft for him and that furthered compounded his problem when they did not select another running back until the 7th round, selecting DeAngelo Williams.

This move left many wondering why he would leave the ever-important running back position un-hedged while taking "flyers" on (B.Marshall (3-game suspension), S.Holmes (smallish and yet to reach the 1000 yard plateau) and J.Shockey (generally annoying and limited by NOLA’s many other offensive weapons).

Although, with all this adversity and a combined brutal first half schedule (Four 2007 playoff teams and Two 2008 favorites in the first Seven weeks), Burns’ team looks decent and the owner himself has shown the ability to persevere and excel at all levels in the fantasy game.

Commish Suggestion: Win the first two weeks, build a base to survive the tough schedule and always be looking to move two (2) of your receivers for a (1) solid consistent upper second-tier running back. Lastly, as you always do play the waiver wire.
